Converter operation motors, also known as VSD (Variable Speed Drive) motors, are electric motors specifically designed to operate with frequency converters. They feature reinforced winding insulation, optimized rotor designs, and enhanced cooling systems to handle the electrical stresses and wide speed ranges associated with inverter-fed operation.

Standard motors operated with frequency converters experience additional electrical stress from high-frequency voltage spikes (dV/dt), which can degrade winding insulation over time. VSD-rated motors from Innomotics feature enhanced insulation systems, optimized bearing currents protection, and thermal designs that ensure reliable long-term operation across the entire speed range.

Innomotics VSD motors are designed for wide speed ranges, typically from 10% to 100% of rated speed with constant torque, and up to 200% of rated speed in constant power mode. Some models support even wider ranges depending on the application requirements and cooling configuration.
